Types of Prayers

We've been studying Hannah the last few weeks in my Bible study and the emphasis has been on prayer. I was wondering what your favorite type or way of praying is? Examples, praise and adoration, thanksgiving, confession, supplication for yourself and others, or just plain crying out to God. I think I most often start by thanking the Lord for things, but the bulk of my prayers end up in asking for things for myself and others. My favorite type of prayer is just plain old crying out to God. This is when I'm most vulnerable and open with the Lord, which is what He longs for, and draws me closer to Him. It's amazing that I do not pray this way more often, because the Lord knows all my thoughts, there's no point in trying to hide things from Him or put on a brave face. Plus, He never rolls His eyes or gets tired of us coming to Him, so He's the perfect One to be ourselves with. How about you?

  1. I like rambling prayer. I'll start out writing in my journal and then before long my entry turns into a prayer. Someone (I forget who) once said that HE likes to be asked. When I am petitioning Him, the requests flow, one after the other. When I am adoring Him, I often find myself amazed at my words. The Holy Spirit lives in us and gives us the words that are not our own.
