Mommies

I read about Moses' mom today in my daily devotional. She had three amazing kids: Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. She didn't get a whole lot of mentions. But, she LOVED God with all her heart and poured herself into her children, I'm sure. Every hug, every sweet whisper into babies' ears COUNTS. Every eyeball-to-eyeball "I'm paying attention to you" experience matters. I'm thankful that you three have the sweet privilege of motherhood. YOU are all SO good at it.

  1. Oh Bubs. Such a little precious pixie.
Interesting point about not getting a lot of mentions as a mom. Really, the pay is your relationships with your kids (in every stage), I would guess? I'm still kinda new at this. ;)

  2. We are studying "Chosen Women of the Bible" in my women's bible study right now and there are so many amazing women and moms, but like you said, they don't get much face time. A couple amazing mothers come to mind. First, Naomi must have been an amazing mother because of the fact that after her sons died and she gave her daughter's-in-law permission to leave, they still wanted to stay with her. The second lady that comes to mind is Hannah. She wanted a baby so much, for various cultural and personal reasons that I won't get into now, and she cried out to the Lord. When He blessed her with Samuel, she gave Samuel back to the Lord, literally. I can't imagine giving my baby, whom I wanted so much, to someone else (Eli, the temple priest in this case). Anyway, it is so encouraging to study women, especially mothers, in the bible because they were such strong women and we can learn so much from them about how to be Godly mothers ourselves and point our children towards Christ (which sometimes seems like a tremendous task in this day and age). Thanks for the encouragement, MomPom!
